What is IRC?

Imagine a secure chat room. This is a great alternative to the shout box.

Rules

• No spamming and/or flooding. You'll be kicked.
• No trolling (unless I'm in the mood for amusement).
• No asking to be an OP.
• No fighting with the OPs.

How to Join

Install an IRC client and add this to your server list if not there.

Server Name: FreeNode
Server: irc.freenode.net/8001

8001 being the port. Once you have joined the server, type these two things.

/nick "name" (without quotes)
/join #consolespot

Once there, type this.

/msg nickserv register "password" "email address" (without quotes)

You'll receive and email with instructions on how to register your nickname. Once it's registered, we'll be able to set modes for you like voice, admin, etc.

If you're lazy, type this into Firefox and it should open it automatically in your client.

I have a simple Tutorial for using IRC:
First download mIRC
install mIRC on your PC
Click me!
a popup window would shown, choose mIRC and welcome to the consolespot IRC channel.
If it's not shown in the window so choose browse and search for the mirc.exe.

Keep in mind that the IRC has been very low on usage the past three weeks, so connect and leave it open. Eventually someone else will connect, see you and stay.

Dropping by and leaving, aka fly by, is pointless. You see it's empty and then leave.

because when i put that in to add a server is says mispelled.
