    Default PS3 buyer help

Hi there everyone I have a quick question for you all,
as a graduation present, I'm thinking about getting a PS3, however there are certain models out there that are not compatible with ps2 games.
So I ask to all the PS3 gamers out there, which PS3 model is the most recent one that can play PS2 games and how rare is it.

    Thanx in advance

P.S tryed google but did not go well for me

    Thanx to afterlife1230

i just have to say that the oler ps3's (the ps3 thats compatible playing ps2 games) are more likely to get the YLoD..
i aslo heard that some of the updates can break the bluray drive..

anyways you would want to get the newest model over the older ones.. also i would like to note it's harder to find older ps3's unless you get them off of ebay.. but those probably have something wrong with them..

Any PS3 that has 4 USB ports and chrome trim can play most PS2 games.

The most "recent" one being the older 80GB model (bundled with MotorStorm or MGS4).

Well if you were hoping to but a Slim with PS2 game support, you're out of luck! The only PS3's that can play PS2 games are long gone, unless you can find one on eBay. As guitarplayr said, they should have 4 USBports and a chrome trim near the disc drive. I'd go for a Slim though. They can still play most PSX games

    PS3 Slim FTW.
The only reason to want PS2 compatibility is because there's obviously a game that they still play for PS2.

Personally, I like replaying the Final Fantasy series. And a few others.

Sony is going to port more PS2 games to HD to play on our PS3s, much like they did with the "God of War Collection".

Sony didn't have much of a choice with PS2 compatibility. It just costed too much to produce PS3s with PS2 playback, so I guess porting games is kinda making up for this.
