Hello Consolespot community..
I have a problem with my Xbox 360; there was a recent Xbox Live Update that was released August 11, 2009. This update had many new things including rather pointless features (avatar marketplace, downloading full 360 games via Marketplace, ect.). I updated my Xbox and for some reason, my Xbox doesn't read my disc anymore. I've cleaned all my disc and I've come to the conclusion that it was my Xbox, not my games. Whenever I try to load a disc, my Xbox acts as if a game is not in the drive and says "Open Tray". I've called Microsoft's customer service twice and they won't cover it because "it's my fault" & "it's not the three red rings hardware issue so we can't replace it". and this really isn't fair to me because It was Microsoft's update and I haven't tried to manipulate or open my Xbox in any way. I was just wondering if anyone has had this same problem, and if so, any suggestions. I would greatly appreciate it. And yes, I know it's the update because it started happening as soon as I updated.
Thankyou..
I say you should just give that Xbox...IDK If you read the thread...about the falier rate of Xbox...but I was well over like 50% Chance that customer service wont help at all.

I know dude! that ps3 slim is nice. I want one.
But no, it doesn't read any disc, it acts as if there's no disc in the tray. Not to mention, this is my 2nd 360; my first one had rrod.
i would say just try to get your 360 to rrod 3 times then send to mircosoft
Yeah, I had a similar issue with my DVD drive a year and a half ago. Just wrap it in a towel or something and play a game (not installed to HDD). I don't think mine ever actually RRoD'd, but the back started to melt. xD
Either way they took it and I got a new one for free. They wanted to charge me $90 to fix the DVD drive.
Yeah, that's what they told me, they wanted to charge me like 90 bucks to get the drive fixed. But it'll be hard for me to overheat my Xbox without actually playing a disc game. The only games I CAN play are BF: 1943 and Hexic HD, both of which are installed on my HDD. So, basically I'm screwed
