Default Just 2 questions about the DS

So, I know nothing about the DS, currently have a PSP and I am considering buying one of the models of the DS.
I would like to play games of an SD card like the PSP and I don't think all models have a SD card slot, so which DS's are an option for running games of an SD card? As I don't know which have SD card slots and if it has a SD slot I don't know which of them can run games off it.

Second, to play games from an SD card, all I need is a DS (which ever can do this), SD card and one of those R4 things, no modding/hacking/CFW of any kind like the PSP, correct?

    Thanks for any help

All you need is a r4 card, and if not included, a micro sd. For the dsi, I have no idea, If I were you, I'd get a ds lite.

The DS is a really good console. The R4 is definitely a good solution for keeping all your games and homebrew in one place, instead of having to bring 10 cartridges with you. But the DS models with the SD card slot don't work with the R4. Only DS Lites and older will work with the R4. The R4 is just a normal cartridge with a small slot on the top for a MicroSD card to go in. That's where all the games are kept

So only the original DS and the DS lite can play games without the actual game?
Just found the R4i, I presume that would be needed to run games from an SD card

Nope. Same as the R4. You need a MicroSD card to fit in top. I've never heard of anyone load DS games from an SD card. And I'd recommend getting a DS Lite and normal R4DS, because Nintendo keep releasing updates for the DSi that block the R4i.

Thanks for the replies, I think I will end up getting a DS lite, is this what I would need to play games along with a micro SD card
    Buy Acekards | M3 Real Cards | R4 DSi | R4 DS | R4 Revolution | R4 Cards | R4 SDHC | R4 Software | R4 Card | R4i Gold | AceCard | M3 DS Real
^ Any idea if that site if reliable

    Thanks

Here's the basic run down though.

    CycloDS
    Works on: DS Phat, DSlite

    Pros

    Real time save
    Slow motion feature
Umm...more cool stuff I can't really think of
    Best compatibility
Updates when needed (which isn't very often)
    Supports large memory

    Cons

    $45 price tag

Overall: The best cart available. No good if you have a DSi though.

    Acekard2i
Works on: DS Phat, DSlite, DSi, DSi XL

    Pros

    Great compatibility w/ AKAIO firmware
    Inexpensive
    Supports large memory

    Cons

    Few extras to enjoy
Compatibility has been on the decline with less frequent fixes for AKAIO

Overall: Not bad, not the best, but worth a purchase if you can't afford the other carts.

    Supercard DSTwo
Works on: DS Phat, DSlite, DSi, DSi XL

    Pros

Near flawless compatibility with very few updates required
    Built in GBA emulator
    Great interface
    Supports large memory

    Cons

    Still early in market life
GBA emulator is very sub-par so far
Many promised features have not come to light yet
    $35 price tag

Overall: Better than the Acekard2i, pretty much on par with the CycloDS for compatibility, and ever improving. This is easily the best cart for a DSi owner.
Well, there you go. Also, I suggest purchasing from Lightake.com
They are very trustworthy, plus, free shipping.

Now have everything I need, just need to know if its all correct before I update my DS to the latest firmware

So far I have just put the two files from ak2_423_20100721_release on to the root of the SDcard, from tutorials it looks like that is all I have to do, is this right? don't have to run anything or do anything else?
