    Default "Geohot" working for Facebook

A recent facebook wall post by George Hotz or more commonly known as "Geohot" has informed us of where he's been the past few weeks after the whole Sony scandal.

Most of you might now about this by now but in case you've been shipwrecked on a remote island in the pacific for the last 5-6 months than you'd be interested in learning that Sony filled a lawsuit against Hotz over a PS3 Jailbreak he made public, which let PS3 users run unsigned code on their systems. Sony and Hotz eventually settled on the case by having Hotz remove any information on the Jailbreak from his website as well as some other agreements.

After all that fiasco and Geohotz boycott over Sony products he eventually fell of the radar. That is until the wall post which let all his followers know where he's been.

Why Facebook would hire Hotz to work for them is still unknown. One rumor is that it's possible he's working on an iPad app for Facebook, given Geohotz knowledge on Apple's operating system. This however should be taken lightly as there is no concrete evidence behind this.

He's only a reputable well known hacker. Facebook did what Sony should have done: Hired him.
Sony took him to court for hacking the PS3 to regain a feature that was removed from the OS, discouraged lots of people to buy Sony products and got their whole brand name in a massive shit storm.
Facebook hire the guy instead and pay him for something he does, and obviously does well.

Sony only wanted to make an example out of him. They failed though. George walked with nothing but a slap on the wrist and an agreement with Sony to not fuck with each others equipment.

Funny thing is, Jailbreaking a PS3 was still pretty much underground stuff compared to Jailbreaking ipods as an example. Then Sony decided to go completely public with it and plaster it all over the news. Now every kid out their is trying to learn how to jailbreak their PS3. So, in the long run, Sony hurt themselves a lot more than anything else.

But yes, Sony should have just hired him. Would of made everything go a lot better for them. Instead, they lose $170,000,000.00 roughly, just for not having the PSN up. And lord only knows how much money they were throwing at all their lawyers...

Good for him. I'm glad he's going somewhere and getting paid for his skills.
