Default OS 4 on iPod Touch

Okay, so the update is going to be free this year. Meaning that I can get the iOS4 to my iPod Touch for free

Anyhow, what I want to know is; The update is released on 21st June. So if I upgrade, will I be unable to restore back?

First off, I'm talking about software limitation. I for one wouldn't know.
Secondly, I got the 8GB 3G, which basically is a 2G. I have my SHSH backed up both on 3.1.2 and 3.1.3.

Better stay on the safe side

There will most likely be a jailbreak/unlock for OS4 the day of it's release. There's already several for the betas. So I don't think you'll have to worry bout backing up/downgrading :P

If the SHSHs are backed up you will be able to restore anytime. Soon there will be app releases to restore to any firmware, thanks to GreenPoisin developers will be able to accomplish that.

The dev version of iOS4 is already jailbroken. Redsnow or PawnageTool.

All updates have been free for me: iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download

Hmm... After Spirit was released, everyone forgot about it.

Nice. Tho I heard that redsn0w can jailbreak the GM on iPhone 3G.
    So either it'll be a redsn0w or limera1n?

You'll be fine. A system restore is lways there for ya. But don't apply that with iPhones, when you upgrade them, it upgrades their broadband, creating problems if you try to restore to a lower firmware.

Lol... It's called baseband. not broadband

Anyhow, I heard some crap about the DFU restore being removed.
Some said it's just a myth as DFU is part of hardware and not software.
Some said it's gone since the dfu and recovery was mixed to one.

    I'll just wait til there's a jb for 4.0.

All I hope is that the iPod Touch gets the same A4 and better battery treatment as the iPhone4... and maybe a camera.
