[Tutorial] Jailbreaking the 2G - Console Spot Forums

Okay, now that the 2G can be completely Jailbroken now, I'm going to completely re-write this tutorial.

Dancool999 has released an easy to use GUI called QuickFreedom that allows you to easily and quickly Jailbreak your 2G. You can download it from it's website.

Getting Started

The GUI already comes with everything you except the 2.2.1 firmware which you can download using the GUI. It even comes the new 24KPwn patch recently released by the Dev Team. All you need to do is download the setup.

Preforming the Jailbreak

Before starting you need iTunes and LibUSB installed. LibUSB is included with QuickFreedom.

Put your iPod in DFU mode while it's hooked up to your PC. To do this, power down your iPod. Next, hold down the power button and the home button down simulataneously. You'll hear the notification sound on your PC notifying you that your iPod has been disconnected. When you hear this, let go of the power button and keep holding the home button until you hear the "USB connected" sound on your PC. iTunes will pop up saying that your iPod needs to be restored. Just ignore that.

Follow everything that QuickFreedom says to do and you should have a fully Jailbroken iPod.

To restore with the custom firmware, open iTunes, click your iPod, and hold Shift and click Restore. Browse for your custom made IPSW and iTunes will begin the restore.

Troubleshooting

QuickFreedom is still a beta. Vista users may have a problem with it failing to create the firmware. To fix this, you need to disable any themes. Just use the Windows Classic theme until it's finished.

Seems that the way I jailbroke my iPod Touch 2g was a lot easier than this. but let's hope this tutorial can be helpful to those who need it.

Really? Hmm. I've searched all over YouTube and most are Rick Rolls or fakes.

I just googled and found out that the Ipod Touch 2G looks just like iPhone.
I want iPhone and can't even afford a 2G...

It really is. And for some reason I like the Touch better than the iPhone.

Yeah. The battery lasts longer in the iPod. Plus, it's not as bulky.

here's the tool i used. it's a really easy gui and does everything automatically for you

and no, this is completely real (i did it and it worked 100% for me)

the only thing is, i think it installs the regular redsn0w, not the semi tethered version
