Default Make AVI video file clearer

Yeah i'm trying to make this avi file clearer but i don't know how. there is no higher resolution version so would there be something FREE that would make the avi video clearer so i can burn it to a disc.

is there something that would let me decompress the file and re-compress it for a better resolution.

pleaze help if you know something FREE that can do this for me i would be very grateful thx in advance.

well did you rip it from a DVD to an AVI file? or did you Convert it from a lower video quality to AVI? Ex. MP4 to AVI?

if so, that may be the reason.

Try converting it to XviD or DviX. You can also try AVC (HD MP4). I use Xilisoft Ultimate Video Converter for my conversions.

There is NO way to make a video "better-quality" you can do things such as upscaling which basically works by splitting pixels however if you already have some poor-quality, grainy footage then there is pretty much nothing you can do it make it better quality. As far as AVI goes it is probarbly the best available compression for videos as far as size to quality goes, both main AVI codecs (DivX and Xvid) support upto 1080p (1920 x 1080) so there is really no need to convert to any other format.
