[help] IE8 vista.. Internet Access Issue. :(

Alright here goes. I have tried several things for the past 2 days trying to fix this dumb Ish. Now, here are the symptoms:
I have perfect Wifi signal.. However No internet.
I can get some programs (few, Windows Update is one of them..) to connect to the internet.. However, Browsers and instant messaging software aren't working.
This started 2 days ago.. As soon as i let my computer do the IE8 upgrade.. i was tired of the pop-up thing so i let it do it's thing.. as soon as my laptop restarted, problems started.. full signal but no websites and couldn't log in hotmail or yahoo. I decided to shut down and leave it for the next morning.. maybe it was just a problem that could be fixed by a night's stay.

Next morning it was still happening (until present day it still is).. I looked around and i really haven't been the only one.. However i can't pinpoint the issue.. Things i've tried:
I've installed the 'bug fixes' that Microsoft had for it to no avail..
I've uninstalled, installed, uninstalled, and installed.. basically going into the Restart oblivion... All to no avail.
I uninstalled the network wireless card.. Nothing.. Checked ssl2 and ssl3 on Internet settings advanced.. did a system restore 4 days before the issue started.. I still have the same problem, nothing was fixed.
Did a IE7/IE8 settings reset (after uninstalling, and after installing IE8)..
I even went into Regedit to delete some HKeys that were supposed to be deleted when uninstalling.. Nothing there.
This is not a network problem... I'm using another computer on the same router/network and the internet is working perfectly.
So now, i turn to my Gamers in hope that one of you guys can help me out.. x.x.. I'm really in need i need to do much college work that is due for next week.. Thanks again.. I'm sure I've done many other things.. but there's been so many I lost count.. Thanks again.. I really hope i don't have to format for a Microsoft Update !

try using the most recent restore point within system restore before you updated IE8 and if that works use firefox. when i had problems with IE8, i couldn't access the internet or msn. or it just may be a vista issue. try the system restore first tho. start button>system tools>system restore. vista probably made a restore point prior to the update, so good luck and i hope this helps.

if your using a router try going to the router settings site and reset it there. if you cant usually just hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds (might be 15) and itll restore factory default settings to the router. if that doesnt work then..... im really not sure what you could do. but you could do a system restore back to the day before you installed IE8, see if net works then download Firefox. because IE sucks... firefox works much better.

EDIT: ahh.... death angel typed faster than me for the firefox thing.... he gives a better explanation anyways though.

Yeah that's one of the first things i did.. I have tried 3 browsers(chrome, firefox, and IE).. i might download another one just to check.. maybe safari.. However, When i tried it none of the browsers worked.. nothing worked x.x...
i'm guessing it might be something to do with the ports.. No idea though.. I don't know anything to do with ports.. also there might be some sort of proxy going on.. however.. i don't know much about proxys either x.x... i dunno i'm researching

if you need it desprately try using an ethernet cable between the router/modem temporarily as a solution and fix it when u have time to

Like as posted before use system restore then try to go online and get firefox or opera.
But really I dislike vista and thats why Linux is better because of its simplicity.

I've tried the ethernet too.. Same issue.. It seems it's not the network or any physical related problems.. it's gotta then be some sort of configuration..
I'm gonna download Opera and try it..
