Booting problem
I have a single HDD with 3 partitions; Windows 7, Windows Vista and a recovery partition.
Just now, I've got an odd problem where when I start up my computer it sits there for AGES with a black screen and flashing white underscore in the top left. My computer still boots fine, it just takes ages. This has never happened until today.
Any suggestions?
What I'm doing for now is doing a full out scan with NOD32 v4, doing a reg scan and then a defrag and giving it another go.
I'll try to watch the screen the whole time till it boots to see if there is an error message, but my god, it takes a long time.
edit: apparently I have to either do a repair or reinstall of my OS. Gay.
edit2: Windows 7 disk found no errors with my startup and there is no error message. After a LONG wait it just goes to the screen where you choose which partition you want to boot.
edit3: chkdsk /r doesn't work saying the disk is write protected. currently trying workarounds.

Thats the problem with windows it usually doesn't find problems with the startup or hard disk so they are not able to be fixed. I suggest going with a open source linux distro.
