    Default [Tutorial] How to test your antivirus software.

    Well you can either download my home made virus and let me have complete and total access to your computer if your antivirus is not working. :XP: OR you can follow my simple tutorial! LOL This tutorial is great if you just got a new AV, your computer is acting strange and you want to make sure your AV is working or you are just bored. :P So lets get started.

    1. Open note pad

    2. Paste this code inside,
    Code:
    X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}
    3. Save the file as, anything here.txt

    4. Scan that file with your AV

    5. If it tells you that you have a virus then it worked!

    If not then fix your AV!

    This works because the little line of code that I gave you is something that antivirus software looks for. It doesn't do anything to your computer but it makes antivirus a fool. You can also test how good your antivirus software is by opening the text file moving it around. If your AV tells you that there is a virus when doing those things then its good.

    This was checked out as a regular txt file by my computer and I have Norton if you want to make a tutorial then improve your knowledge on what an anti-virus looks for.

    NOD32 insta-raped it. I made a new text file, copied the text you made in and before I could hit save the file was deleted.

    @conrados
    Norton is not a good antivirus.

    LOL, it didn't even save, ESET NOD32 wouldn't let me. Dude this is tight. Thanks. I can use this code for other purposes later. And then test out which are good anti-viruses. Thanks. LOL I'm still amazed about it, its cool.

    Interesting how Norton did not pick up the file as a threat I guess it was because the file was not trying to do something malicious.

    Maybe you don't have real time file scanning or website monitoring or all that checking what you are doing while it's happening crap?

    Yup this is a pretty cool test alright.

    @conrados: IMO, Norton sucks... I prefer to use AVG

    ESET all the way noobs. This is an awesome test. If you don't mind, can I test your "homemade" virus. I bet you anything I can keep you out.

    I wanna see this challenge. Since I have Norton, I didn't even bother trying the code.
