    Default Overclocking

i want to know if i can overclock my processor that way i can get it to at least 3.0GHz or as close to that and keep it good with only stock cooling. i know you have to get into bios but i forgot what key you press. I have a AMD phenom II x4 810 processor. With a clock speed of 2.60 Ghz. Plus i also want to do it to my old sempron on the other comp. I actually know quite a bit about computers. So you dont have to simplify it up.

ok lets get started with your older computer and from the start um that a really bad i mean depending how old the computer is you might what to get a cooling system and it may also fry it. and now for the other one there's many different ways to overclock in which you do not need to mess with your bios Google a few programs. there is also a chance your processor does not allow overclocking like one of my laptops (which sucks ) so you might want to look for some info on your processor. and now for your request overclocking at a 3.0 Ghz with a stock fan cooling system is running it risky my other gaming laptop has a dual core at 2.13 Ghz (and yours is running at 2.6(2.60)) and it get hot! and i haven't overclocked it yet, so you might want to get a good cooling system for around $50 for a liquid one, you can also get a fan for cheaper.

That AMD Phenom that he has is a quad-core so he basically has no reason to overclock it.

You'll see what to press at POST/startup. most probably will be the "del" key

For me It's much more easier to overclock in the bios

    Heres a list:

    1. Cooling - first check inside your case if its a birds nest it is going to do any good if its tidy and has good ventilation don't worry its should stay cool

    2. Motherboard - most Asus motherboards have software built for overclocking safely and easily

    3. If your after graphic performance try upgrading your GPU, Ati 4000 series at the least and Ati disks come with overclocking software

    4. Ability - You mother board may not support overclocking same applies with the CPU so find out (if built by a major brand this might not be possible)

    5. You should always be safe then sorrow - if you don't understand come back and post because overclocking can fry it beyond reapair
