Do what you want if you want to waste your money...anything about 500W is a complete overkill.

just to have a lil' headroom you should choose the 600 or 650 W type PSU. Never go for cheapos. They dont provide the right ammount of wattage current or ampage so neer go for 800 W 25$ PSU never. You will slowly kill ur components. Go for a brand name Thermaltake, ( they are the best ) Corsair, Enermax, etc. I own a dual 4870x2 i7 quad, 6 gigs of ram, 2 HDD, 1 optical, a dozen fans. And use 1,2 KW Thermaltake. I can still add more to the PC and still have some headroom

500w is for basic computing stuff go with 850W

I'd say get the CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX that should be more then enough power for the computer your putting together.
