At their press conference in Shanghai, Sony Computer Entertainment revealed the launch date for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in the People's Republic of China: January 11, 2014. The PS4 will retail for 2,899 Yuan (~$468 US), a significant amount cheaper (~$130 US less) than the 3,699 (~$598 US) price of the Xbox One without Kinect. Meanwhile the PS Vita will be priced at 1,299 Yuan. The ban on video game consoles in China that began in 2000 recently lifted earlier this year. Additionally, SCE announced over 70 third-party publishers are planning to bring their games to the Chinese market. A number of titles from Chinese developers such as King of Wushu, Mr. Pumpkin Adventure, and One Tap Hero will be released on the PlayStation platforms.
