It looks like Sony is preparing a PS3 Slim model with a 250GB hard drive, according to documents discovered by PS3 News.
A PDF file with the name "radio test report", submitted in May to the FCC - as the Sand Dollar Enterprises, which is why no one noticed - Mentions 4 new PlayStation 3: two test debug versions and two in production, being one with the 120GB HDD (CECH-2000A) and another one being the 250GB model (CECH-2000B).
And it looks like the 120GB HDD model number on that PDF, matches to the one that Sony presented last week.
These data indicate that Sony is thinking so seriously at a slim 250GB HDD model version. They have also produced a prototype with the equipment under test with Bluetooth and WiFi radio. This means that we do not have much until we see a Premium version of the PS3 Slim's.
Sony has promised that the motion controller will be presented at the Tokyo Game Show, in late September, so there will be more information about it, in around a month or so.
There will not be too many differences between them,
so here are the official PS3 Slim pictures.
So you can change the hard drive of it like you do on xbox ?
But even then, wouldn't that be the same thing, like buying a PS3 Slim 250GB for, lets say $350 and buying a PS3 Slim 120GB for $300 and then buying the HDD for another $50-100 ?
I don't know how much could it cost.
I believe it will cost you the same thing, so it is better buying the actual Slim 250GB.
Unless you already have a PS3 Slim 120GB
Yeah, in the specs nothing seems to be different. So what is this "taking out alot of stuff" means. I know they took out the other OS, but that's not a big deal to me.
You can upgrade your Playstation 3 from 80GB to 500GB just by adding $70 or less to the original price tag. So Sony selling an 80GB and 160GB at $100 price difference is absurd as well as 120GB to 250GB...that is why they can afford to keep the price the same. My 500GB PS3 Costed just $70 to upgrade the hard drive and I did it myself in 2 minutes.
So, in conclusion, unless sony can offer a 500GB HDD or greater (which they most absolutely won't) You're better off getting the cheaper model and upgrading space yourself. Any wise shopper would.
So If theres nothing better in the new one i'll just buy the old and upgrade which will be craploads cheaper. now all i need is a screwdriver and about 750 bucks(i don't live in the US).
