Default [Tutorial] How To Install Custom XMB Themes

This Tutorial will show you how to install Custom XMB Themes onto your PSP.
There are Three different ways of Installing Theme To Your PSP.

1. Manually (Best For Advanced Users)
2. With CXMB Plugin (Best For Noobz)
3. With Program (Good For Advanced Users and Noobz)

NOTE: You Need Custom Firmware To Do This

Manually Install

First Step: We Need To Un-hide Those Flash0 Files That Are Hidden.

Quote:
1) Go into ANY folder anywhere on your Computer
2) Click the "TOOLS" Tab
3) Click "Folder Options..."
4) Click the "View" Tab
5) Click "Show Hidden Files And Folders" and "Hide Protected Operating System Files"
6) It should say something about if you delete a system file that it will mess up your computer.......Just click "YES"
7) Click "Apply" Then Exit

Second Step: We Need To Make A Flash0 Back-Up

Quote:
1) Make sure you have done the First Step
2) Turn on your PSP and hold the "R" Trigger (This will take you to the Recovery Mode)
3) Plug in your PSP via USB
4) Go To "Advance ->", and then "Toggle USB (flash0)"
5) Copy The Contents of the folder that pops up to a new folder on your Desktop named "YOUR NAME's Flash0 Back-Up For X.XXM33-X"
6) Now you need to put this folder somewhere that is Safe like a Flash Drive or a Portable Hard Drive

Third Step: Delete Files On Your PSP To Free Up Some Space For The Custom XMB Theme

Quote:
1) Make sure you have done the Second Step
2) Turn on your PSP and hold the "R" Trigger (This will take you to the Recovery Mode)
3) Plug in your PSP via USB
4) Go To "Advance ->", and then "Toggle USB (flash0)"
5) Delete The Files That You Will Not Use (Optional for Slim Users)
flash0:/vsh/resource/system_plugin_about.rco
The copyright credits slide show displayed from System Settings -> About PSP.

flash0:/vsh/module/screenshot_plugin.prx
flash0:/vsh/resource/screenshot_plugin.rco

Unusable by PSP users / useless / obsolete

flash0:/kd/usbcam.prx
flash0:/vsh/module/camera_plugin.prx
flash0:/vsh/resouce/camera_plugin.rco

Allows the Camera attachment to work

flash0:/kd/usbgps.prx
Allows the GPS Device attachment to work

flash0:/kd/usbmic.prx
Allows the MIC attachment to work

flash0:/dic
Useless files are in this folder so you can delete the folder if you wish.

Fourth Step: Download The Theme You Wish To Use

Quote:
1) Make sure you have done the Third Step
2) Go to Consolespot XMB Themes Main Page and search through the pages of themes
3) Once you find one that you like and that is for your Firmware Version click on "Comments (XXX) last post by XXXXXXXXXX"
4) Now find the download it will either be comsolespot, megaupload, sendspace, mediafire, etc (If it is uploaded by ConsoleSpot.net then you will have to sign up)
5) Download and Unzip the file you downloaded (You may need WinRAR...PM me if you do)

Fifth Step: Installing The Custom XMB Theme To Your PSP

Quote:
1) Make sure you have done the Fourth Step
2) Turn on your PSP and hold the "R" Trigger (This will take you to the Recovery Mode)
3) Plug in your PSP via USB
4) Go To "Advance ->", and then "Toggle USB (flash0)
5) Go into the folder you downloaded and unzipped, and find the folders "Font" and "Vsh"
6) Go into the "Font" folder and copy over the files in there to flash0:/font
7) Go into the "Vsh" folder and you should see one or two folders named "Resource" and "Module"
8) Go into the "Resource" folder and copy over the files in there to flash0:/vsh/resource
9) Go into the "Module" folder and copy over the files in there to flash0:/vsh/module

With Program

This section will not have a tutorial because all you need to know about the program is in the README.txt that each download will include.
I will list them in order from best to wrost

1. XMBeditor V.3 For 4.01 m33
2. PSP Wardrobe v.7 For 3.90M33
3. Universal Theme Flasher For 3.90M33, 3.80M33, 3.71M33 and 3.52M33

NOTE:
YOU NEED TO SEARCH FOR A THEME FLASHER THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR PSP FIRMWARE.
RIGHT NOW THERE ARE NO THEME FLASHERS COMPATIBLE WITH 4.01M33

If someone would be kind enough to make a Banner for this thread I would Really appreciate it.

If you have any questions, comments, or ideas/corrections about this thread please post here.

I do understand why a lot of people use CXMB. It's quick and easy, but I don't like the fact that the theme loads from the memory stick and not the Flash0. If you would like to use more than 1 theme then CXMB is great, but I still go the old fashioned way.

I make all my Tutorials as Noobie Free as possible.

Thanks For the Comments!

You may have gotten first response, but I got first post lol

EDIT: Thank you for the donation!!!
