CwCheat Searcher - Creating cheats

Sorry about the quality of the pic's as when cwcheat is running you can not enable screen shots. So I had to use my garbage webcam. I thought I'd contribute this to Console Spot.
1) Take note of my bullets. They will be the value I'm changing for this example.



2) Go to CwCheat menu and enable dump.



3) GO to Cheat Searcher and I have selected "start a new search for a difference" and It will take the first dump.



4) Go back to the game and change the value. In my example it is the bullets.



5) GO back into cwcheat's cheat searcher and select Continue a search for a differnce. This may take a while. as long as the memory card light is flashing your good.(When continuing a search you must continue in the mode you started in. For example if you search for a fixed value (you must know the exact value.) And then when it's time to continue you must select "continue a search for a fixed value" or cwcheat will crash.
EDIT:If you don't continue a search too many addresses will come back and you'll have 100k addresses to sift through instead of just 10.


6) You will get this screen. Select corrisponding entry. (in my example I have less bullets so "less than before.")



7) It will take a dump (Searching) and display the address found. (Don't worry if there are thousands)



8) Exit back into game and change the value again. (In my example it's bullets)



9) Repeat step 5) Except it will start displaying the first 10 addresses. Ignore them for right now. and continue the search.



10) Repeat 4 & 5 over and over until you only have a few address left. Exit searcher and then re-enter it. using the continue search. ( in my example I only have two address left. you should write these (your address) down. If you search too much the search will not return an address. Vary your method for example one or two times do not change the value and select "equal to before"



11) Press triangle, and select an address. You will get this screen. Press R-Trigger, you want to change the "DEC VALUE" mine is 31 I'll change it to 100.



12) Press X, Then exit to CwCheats main menu and enter the "select cheats" you will find a "NEW CHEAT" this is your created cheat.



13) Enable cheats and test it out. If it was the correct address (cheat is working) go back to the select cheat screen and press "select" to save it. If it's wrong enter one of the other addresses you wrote down earlier and change there value until you get the desired result. if you want to clear out the cheats you've made (as long as they are not saved to the database by pushing select) go back to the cheat searcher and select "remove all search and dump data" exit the game and when you go luanch the umd the next time the data will be gone.

Important Notes

Notes: Searching for text is not as easy as it sounds you'll need to know what the programer called that value. There is some info. in the supporting Docs that come with cwcheat.
DumpsYou will crash CWcheat if there is not enough room for the dumps.
Searching for values on RPG's When searching on certian kinds of games (mostly RPG's) you'll need to change the search from an 8bit search to 32bit, depending on the value your searching for. This is becuase of the amount of values in a RPG compared to a FPS. To do that refer to step 3's picture of the dump, on that screen press square to cycle the bit rate. and continue your search just like in the guide.
After saving your cheat you should remove the dump data via step 13.

Answers and FAQ

Money in games-(Fixed Values)A few things, 1) Sometimes the value is not the same as what you've read in-game. For example your playing a poker game and it may show $2000 dollars in-game but the program may drop a zero making it 200 (Either due to rounding or what ever, I'm not a programmer so ask some one who is why it is.)

2)The money value stays the same, Disable the cheat and you will have the amount before you disabled the cheat. For example if before you cheat it is $2000 then you search and create a cheat, and replace the value with 20000 to get $20,000 money in the game. It will stay at $20,000 until you disable the cheat. Then it should still read as $20,000 until you spend. This happens becuase the cheat hex edits the code as it is being read from the UMD disc. It doesn't mess with the disc in any way. It will never mess up the game its self.

Disabled cheat and it's still not working correctly- Go to the recovery menu and disable cwcheat return to the game and all should be normal again.

Save Game Data- If the cheat is on and you save, that value will be reflected in the save game data. But won't stay that way with out it's cheat enabled.

Good to hear! I'm glad you've been able to make and use your own cheats.
Just remember if it's a reliable cheat and works with close to no issues. Please submit it to the developers on their site. CWCHEATS, PSP, Cheat, Tips - 616 GAMES and 8155 CHEATS on DB So the cheat database can grow.

i think that freecheat is moore noob friendly. and its not that much bugs in it

What bugs are in cwcheat's current revision? I haven't tried freecheat, but cwcheat and nitepr have been around the longest. So in theory, they should have fewer bugs.
