[Tutorial] How to Dump a UMD

I will be showing you 2 ways to dump a UMD disk. On to your PC and on to your PSP memory stick. So here we go!!!!!!

Dumping a UMD on to your PC
1. Insert your UMD into your PSP while you're in the XMB then press SELECT
2. M33 VSH Menu will come up on your PSP. Go down to "USB Device" and press right on your D-Pad until you come to UMD Disc as shown in the pic in the spoiler. Then press SELECT to close the menu.

3. Connect your PSP on to your PC and go into USB Connection.
4. Instead of seeing your average PSP folders (PSP, MUSIC, VIDEO) on your PC, you will see a ISO-Image Disc file. Drag that file on to your Desktop. This may take awhile.

5. Once it's done copying, right-click the file and click properties. Go down to attributes and uncheck "Read-only" then press ok.
6. Rename the file to the name of the game if you want. Remember to change the UMD Device in M33 VSH Menu to Memory Stick.

7. Activate USB Connection and drag your game into the ISO folder in the root of your memory. If there isn't an ISO folder, than make one!! :!: . Before doing this, make sure you have enough room on your memory stick. Now you could play your game!

Dumping a UMD on to your Memory Stick
1. Download UMDumper030D in the attachments.
2. Connect your PSP to your PC and activate USB Connection
3. Right-click the download and press Extract Here and copy the resulted folder to your ms0:/PSP/GAME/ folder
4. Exit USB Connection and go to Game then down to memory stick and select UMDumper.
5. There will be a menu after your gameboot. Press right until you come to Start Dumping. Click it.

You need enough room on your memory stick to start dumping or this will not work. An error will come up when you press Start Dumping and it will say something like you don't have enough room.
6. Once you press it, the game will start dumping to your ms0:/ISO/ folder

Once it's done, you could now start playing your game!

question: i didn't know that you were supposed to change the read-only attribute when done copying. what is the significance of not doing this? the .iso in question plays fine on my psp but a friend of mine that i gave a copy to said that when he tries to play it the psp shuts down after the gameboot plays. could this have something to do with it?

Maybe, or your friend doesn't have a CFW PSP or his/her UMD Mode isn't set to No UMD.

found out what is was, the memory stick was fake. apparently he couldn't get music to play on it either. it took about 6-7 minutes just to format it so i checked the info and it said magicgate - unknown. its taken care of now

Nice guide but pesonally I use PSP Filer 5.2 to dumd UMDs.
Then I only need one program to access my memstick and dump umds.
