In regard to your question about necessary free space, I would think only a small amount of space would be necessary. Open up gpsp and make a save state, I guarantee the file it produces is way less then a meg. How this corresponds to SS's for UMD's or ISO's, I can only assume the space required would be similar to an emulator.
By the way, save state's + Wild Arms FX (I think that is the psp version) = total win!

Well a GBA rom vs PSP ISO size is a bit different so I assumed that it may be more memory in the RAM but you have a point it's just saving a state of progress that when you go back it will restore the data needed to continue, it's not like it's righting another game to the PSP. Well anyway haven't played Wild Arms FX, but I'm willing to try it out thanks for the suggestion, anything like Guilty Gear? However I stand by my point in saying that this may be a better idea for ISO use rather than UMD use as the loading time may be an issue. Not to mention at times trying SS's tend to freeze games running off discs. Unless in the PSP's case this won't be an issue, well only time will tell.
You may be right, the save state will be dumping the ram so I suppose comparing the size to a gba dump was not the best. We will see, but I would be happy if the save state's remained under 40 megs at most. I am really curious to know more about this now.
Wild Arms is like final fantasy tactics (turn based strategic rpg), except not quite as good and at times EXTREMELY HARD. I remember one level that took me around 13 tries to beat......having save state functionality would have saved me a lot time!

Like Tactics eh? Well then that settles it, I'm going to get it...well in the morning it's midnight here so stores are closed lol. If it took that many times then it's good because that means it's a challenge. I wouldn't want a game that's too quick and boring.
Yeah you will for sure struggle at points, you may still want to read up on it and make sure it is for you, for some reason a good chunk of people dont appreciate the game. Here is some info.

Yeah it seems a bit tasking but that's something I'm into, I'll see if there is a copy available at Gamestop. Anyway I was playing Kingdom Hearts Chain Of Memories on my PSP tonight and I noticed something that I have been plagued with for years with emu's the more you use SS features the more you tend to get sound sync issues. I wonder if DAX can fix this for the PSP?
I think that has to do more with the developers of said emulator then Dax. It seems that gpsp is updated pretty regularly, and most games work pretty damn well (ironic you are playing Kingdom Hearts....cg has some major issues still). Are you on a slim or a fat? I use a fat and have always wondered how the extra ram the slim has affects homebrew, case in point the issue with save states you mentioned.

Ah only the Classic PSP for me, none of that Slimline stuff. It has issues with the CG but I find if you make an SS before Sora waves his hands watch for pluto and then load it again, follow this process every few seconds and it'll work. It's buggy but it does work. As for the other CG's do the same thing. The game works 100% sad you can't see the movies though. Eh what ya gonna do? Right now I'm having that issue where I jump and the sound sync comes a second later. It could be my emu though, I have UO gpSP kai 3.2 test 05.
I dunno the Slims issues too much, I trust nothing that didn't start with the 1.50 FW at some point. Kernel goes as well. I love my Classic PSP's, oddly only my Silver and Gold can use HB with no issue even though the other 2 have 3.90M33-3 on them. Then again S+2 PSP's are Model A's, the first one that came out in the US in 1.50 so maybe that has something to do with it. Well anyway, it's not that they can't read HB or play it well, it's just that they are more prone to crash than my main ones. Eh I suppose that's an issue from another time. Point is I'll enjoy having the SS ability with some of the projects and such I do. Time will tell right?
Wow this save state thing sounds amazing, and the news about the 1.5 kernel is awesome. Finally home brew all home brew will be ported to 3.x/4.x kernel's. But this does bring a question to mind, what about time machine? Will work on that be abandoned as well?
