Take this with the smallest grain of salt but according to forum members over at PSPChina, they claim Sony is already in production of their newest edition of the PlayStation Portable. This rumored PSP 3000 is to come updated with a new built-in mic, some changes to its appearance, and perhaps even with cell-phone support.
The claim of the new PSP 3000 was supported with some images of what the said model looks like. As you can see below the "Home" button has been redesigned to instead have the PS logo, similar to the PS button on the PS3's controllers. Right next to the volume buttons you can see what appears to be the said mic. Also new and redesigned is the metallic ring found on the UMD door. Lastly they also provided an image of what the inside casing looks like.
Keep in mind this should all be kept under the rumor category for now. And the images are still unconfirmed to be the real deal. We'll have to wait and see if Sony has any word on the truth.
Interesting, but i can't imagine this "psp 3000" coming out in 2008, it'll probably be mid 2009-early 2010.
Got that right because if it was,it would've been mentioned at E3 I suppose. If this is confirmed I will be hoping for button sets to buy online to put on the Ol'Phat I have sitting here and also the mettalic ring if possible.

well, sony said that they will possibly add a HDD into it, for my personal opinion i keep this as a rumor, maybe the casing could be real because maybe sony wants to make their new psp more appealing to non gamers, just like nintendo did with wii.
