    Default Dark_AleX TA-088v3 Identifier

Dark_AleX has released TA-088v3 Identifer, a simple tool that determines whether or not your PSP is equipped with a TA-088v3 (non-hackable) motherboard. Simply copy the EBOOT for 3.90 and 4.05 firmwares to the root of your memory stick and launch the application from a homebrew-enabled PSP and it will extract and create the IPLs then auto-exit. This leaves you two files: ipl390.bin and ipl405.bin in the root of the memory stick.

    Continued steps:

    - Connect the PSP via USB and format a memory stick with the included “mspformat” tool.
    - Use the included “msinst” to install the 3.90 IPL onto the freshly formatted
    - Insert the memory stick with the 3.90 IPL into the PSP to be TA-088v3 tested; turn it on with a Pandora Battery. Two (2) possible results:

    1. PSP immediately turns off — your PSP is NOT equipped with a TA-088v3 motherboard.
    2. PSP stays on with the green light — your PSP is a TA-088v3, or perhaps you’ve done something wrong. Continue…

    - Connect the PSP via USB again, and repeat the above steps with the 4.05 IPL. Again, two (2) possible results:

    1. If the PSP turns off immediately with this IPL and it previously remained on with the green light — this indicates a TA-088v3 board.
    2. PSP and the green light remain on — you’ve likely done something wrong. Try again.

Has anyone tried and seen it and it is working? Or is not? Or are all PSP-3000's un-hackable?
    Would like some confirmation
Great Post, liked how it implemented the read more feature well.

Are you absolutely sure its not the 3000? If you just bought it, it's possible that it could be the 3000. Unless you got a used 2000.

if you are 100 percent sure that it is 2000, then you did something wrong... did you try updating via psp/game/update? if you did, and it didnt work, then you better bring it to a shop and have it checked...
