But, why is there a little square in the music player on the left of the time bar?

that little square is teh play button

it is a shared resource with teh control panel buttons that come up when you press TRIANGLE.

I was at a bum mark when I found out my favorite ctf's don't work with the new cxmb for 3.95 GEN but when I saw this my mouth watered and I wanted to drool. I like this theme (if you could not tell)
