usually I would use photoshop to resize my thumbnail save it and use mspaint to save it as a 256 colors bmp then save it as a png. Saving it as an 8 bit png in photoshop kills the quality of the thumbnail and makes it look like crap if you ever noticed. Tutorial should be stickied as you have added images and links. Nice job.
Not sure if anyone has encountered this problem but when I try it, it doesn't use the original theme's offsets. I tried and it created all the icons perfectly, but the entire theme was all default xmb positioning. I put the vsh and font folders in cxmb, along with the ptf with only the three images required, and though it did convert, like I said, all the positioning was totally wrong. I tried to convert eon3.90 just to test it out. I'm currently on cfw 3.90M33-3 if that helps.

When you want to convert you have the decrypted PRXs in the support folder for the firmware you are using. I didn`t add these files to the download due to copyright issues. If you need the decrypted PRXs PM me.
I hope this works, I'd really like to learn how to make custom xmbs on my own and the only two things hanging me up is the lack of a real informative and thorough tutorial, and this ctf conversion thing. I'm a skin developer so I already have the graphics knowledge for designing the images but I have absolutely no knowledge over any of the offsets or really anything that makes an xmb up. Hopefully I can learn...lol. Thank you for your help and such a quick response too. I figured this thread was dead
EDIT it worked perfectly with the new prx fix. Now all I need to do is learn how to hex edit with vshmaineditor, and start making my own stuff. Thank you once again!

I am using 3.95 Gen-2 and every time i make a ctf it would have the icons on top and not on the bottom like i want it to. Help?
edit: I see a guy above me (a couple of posts) posted the same problem but on a different firmware. I have the correct decrypted prx in the support folder also.
The positioning is the same as neocorpse but instead it is on 3.95 GEN-2...

ummmm... I never ran into such a problem when I use the CXMB. Is the theme you are converting to CTF for 395GEN? ALso when you flash the theme, does it show the icons in the correct location?
I have decrypted 395Gen PRX and put the Common_gui.prx, paf.prx, and vshmain.prx in the support folder. I put down for firmware 395 and everything like the tutorial says but the icons appear on top in the positions for the original icon locations.
Im trying to get my favorite themes from 390 to convert to 395 ctf.
I probably need to convert the 390 flash0 to 395 flash0 before turning it to a 395 ctf.

That`s exactly what you need to do. The CXMB cannot convert that way only for themes that are made for the CFW you are using. If that was possible everyone would be converting themes Maybe some day someone will create an app that will just do that with a just a click of the mouse, that would be nice.
