According to some info I need to downgrade IOS, but didn't I do that earlier? Is there a compatibility issue between the version 4.0 which alledgedly has all security removed and version 0.29 of the preloader?

We have just figured out how to run the home brew hack, copied games, etc without needing Zelda! Our new soft hack is also Wii 4.0 compatible. First ones to hack the new update!

I have a question... I have homebrew installed from a while back now so I don't know if anything is different, but in your guide you said "Ok once you have HBC Installed load it and locate the app saying "cIOS36 rev 09" and launch it", "head over back to HBC and load "IOS60 Installer" and also "go back to HBC and load "Preloader 0.29 Installer".

You say these in your steps as if the files are already in the SD card and show up in homebrew. I don't have these files myself and I need them. If you could direct me to a download page it would be appreciated.

Great tutorial, but total Wii noob here, so I have questions. My friend is giving me his Wii in a couple days and I want to do homebrew and the backup loader as explained in this tutorial.

I'm pretty sure his Wii is already 4.0 so I was planning on using the hackmii/bannerbomb to install the HBC cause it seems easy and I hear it works great.

I'm confused about step 5 on your tutorial and I really don't want to brick the console, so can you explain accessing the system menu and holding reset a little bit better? Like do you hold the reset button, then click on the system menu to not brick the console and wipe the menu? And to access the console when you need to reinstall preloader after the initial preloader install, you just turn on the console while holding reset? Those are the only things I am really worried about. Everything else is pretty straight forward.

Also is there anything that the 4.0 firmware (even the patched one) blocks from homebrew?

Thanks so much for any help!

I used this tutorial and it's great. I burned a few of my backups and they worked great. However, I burned Guitar Hero World Tour, and I get a black screen and it says "An error has occurred. Press eject button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii Console off and refer to the wii operations manual for help troubleshooting". It only seems to happen with this one game. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix it?

Default Preloader problems

I am getting the error message "Failed to load root ios(36) has bug fixed". I redid the instructions exactly as they say 3 times! i dont get what i am doing wrong?

If i cant get it to work, do you have to have preloader installed?

Any suggestions

I have a question about the downgrader, if anyone can help me feel free.

I go into HBC and run the program, I hit load, and all it does is reset my wii and does not downgrade it from version 4.0. I never safe-installed 4.0 but my Homebrew Channel loads fine, the only thing that wasn't working was loading codes on gecko os. I want to downgrade so I can safely upgrade to 4.0 but it won't work, can someone please explain to me why and help? Thanks.
