Any plans for a v3?

It would be cool if the program edited the other 2 addresses in each .bin, so that the UI messages would display the correct information. (x.dol found - x.dol not found)

The offsets for these are not all the same in each .bin file. (Because different strings of different lengths for folder name means the second and third offset changes in the later .bin files)

I would check my script for those offsets, as it will save you significant time hunting through all the .bin files with a hex editor.

Other than that, I couldn't really think of anything else to possibly add to this project. Stellar work mate !

Thanks for sharing the project as well as the src

Mmmm...why did you look at each file for the offset? The only change is the path string right?

So, for example, if the ex looks like this:

apps/myfolder/boot.dol1234515213521506165135errormessage

1234515213521506165135 will still be the same lenght regardless of "myfolder" lenght, so as the offset to "m" in "myfolder" is the same for all files, to reach the offset of "e" in "errormessage" you just have to do this:

"m"'s offset + "myfolder" lenght + 1234515213521506165135 lenght

As you see, we only have one variable, which is still the folder name. This is also the way I modify the .dol to .elf: offset to folder name+folder name lenght+6 (which is the distance until I position over the "d" of dol.

Still, modifying the forwarder's source and recompiling all 18 files would be much easier. Do you happen to have the source?

Well, here's the thing:

SpaceJump did release a open src DOL Forwarder, BUT I only use djdynamite123's forwarders (which are not open src) because dj's are SDHC compatible, as well as having multiple error checks such as a fix for the "nun chuck bug".

So unless you had extensive knowledge of developing for Nintendo Wii - I would imagine it would be rather difficult to replicate djdynamite123's forwarders any other way...

As for the offsets we where discussing - what you say makes sense, I just wanted to make sure you where aware of the changing offsets for some of the .bin files.

So do you have a final update planned? If the error messages where fixed - this project would be perfect

Thanks again for your efforts involving this - as well as teaching me a few things regarding programming.

EDIT: Here is the link to SpaceJump's forwarders: Elf/Dol Forwarder for Custom Channels - GBAtemp.net
But again, I prefer djdynamite123's forwarders, as it has the SDHC support ect...

And here is the link to djdynamite123's release thread: WADder - View topic - [OFFICIAL THREAD] Forwarders w/ SDHC, error checks, etc! - unfortunatly his are not open source, and that is why I thought that Forwarder Creator was the only way to really accomplish this. (If we want SDHC compatibility, ect...)

EDIT: this forwarder should do it, it has a nice loading bar and supports a splash image. Can you try if it has SDHC and nunchung bug solved?

EDIT2: forgot the link: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=6302

I don't have internet access at weekend (yeah, that sucks).

I'm pretty sure the Nunchuk bug and SDHC support are totally dependant to the used libogc and libfat (remember the nunchuk bug happened with the hbc too).

BTW ALL dol forwarders shold be open source, because I'm pretty sure the dol loading stuff is grabbed from gecko loader or loadmii, which are gpl licensed...

Another thing is that I dunno why the fuck we are using 18 files, I've just realized that we only need the one with the most characters.

I don't have my wii here(and where my wii is there's no internet), so I compile a forwarder, you try it for sdhc and nunchuk bug and tell me if that works.

Oh, and what kind of error messages do djdinamite's forwarders display?

Anyway I'd rather put the loading bar and just display the errors in case they ocur, keeping the screen as clean as possible.
