Default Microsoft Throws it's money at Square Enix

First Microsoft pays Rockstar $50 Million for exclusive downloadable content for GTAIV, which has yet to even be announced when that will release. Most likely when it does, most gamers will be done with GTA anyways. They tried to get exclusive rights to Capcoms Resident Evil 5, which was denied. So in a last ditch effort for the territory of Japan, seriously if this doesn't work they might as well pack up, and stick with the states, and Europe, they're throwing their money at Square Enix for 1 full exclusive, and 2 timed exclusive titles for Japan.

Most likely the full exclusive will be Infinite Undiscovery, since it's already been marked as such. Then we have Star Ocean: The Last Hope which has just been announced as in development for the 360, this one is most likely one of the timed exclusives, and then The Last Remnant has been stated as being pushed back for PS3 till after 2009.

If this doesn't work it'll be a huge hit. And like I said, they might as well pack up, and let Nintendo, and Sony duke it out in the land of the rising sun.

Microsoft can keep trying but sadly it will never work. The original Xbox wasn't a big hit in Japan so mostly likely neither will the 360. My opinion on Microsoft is that it's all about the money and in Japan it's about customer satisfaction.

Yea Microsoft is trying to get sales back up in Japan, by paying for some exclusive J-RPG games. But everyone knows they're bound to fail.

Yeah true, is Halo 3 even selling in Japan? Because I know the last 2 releases weren't. I guess the Japanese likes games that has Lvl ups instead of a FPS to be inside one of there game consoles. Also I remember Final Fantasy on the XBOX. It Sucked.

I mean I see where they're coming from, but they've just recently started making profit from the gaming industry around last year. They throw 50 mil at GTA exclusive DLC, but by the time that comes out, most people will have moved on, GTA was good, it was great, but it's the same formula as the prior installments. That was a waste IMO, and this will most likely be a waste in Japan as well. But who knows, it just might work out for them, but it's doubtful.

NO NO NO NO!!are you freakin kidding me?!?I mean like WTF??I've been waiting for Last Remnant EVER since i got my ps3(i have a 360 too, but id rather have it for the ps3)If this happens and it gets pushed back ill be so pissed,EVERY single ps3 game is being delayed and its complete bull, i havent touched my ps3 for months, its so damn dull. And now i get news that star ocean is exclusive, last remnant is being pulled back, and now ff13 wont be done until possibly late 2009???? WHY IS SONY LOSING ALL ITS GREAT RPG's??Thats honestly the whole reason i bought this 80gb ps3, cuz the ps2 was a great system and had many great rpgs to offer. If last remnant gets pulled back and ff13 gets pulled back(yes basically i spent 500 dollars just for these games) then im selling my ps3 and will never even think about getting it again.DAMMIT SONY PULL IT TOGETHER!

I feel you, but I mean, if you were in their position, you'd do the same thing. It's the only thing they can do to try, and gain units in Japan. Keep this in mind, that if this does fails, they will have to pretty much give up on the Japanese market. And, even though SquareEnix likes money just as much as any other publisher/developer. But SquareEnix has always favored Japan more than anyone else, it sucks because we always have to wait for games that have already been published/developed by them in Japan. If M$'s tactics fail, you can bet most JRPG's will be released on the PS3, or Wii if exclusive, or multi-console if non exclusive.

I hate because they "stole" all these great opportunity's from the PS3. But thats why its good to have both consoles you get the best of both worlds!
